I feel like a freshwater pearl
Nothing like my salt water friends
I am rough and deformed
They are perfect and round [?]
My coloring is off
they glisten pure white (or black)
There are many like me
We're a common accessory
While the others are a rare beauty
Their symmetry a gift of the great
Line us up on a string
No two are the same
Theirs is an identical beauty
Only minor flaws tell the difference
We are treasured for our individual shine
They for their uniform splendor
I am loved for my deformity
Whilst they are shunned
No two pearls are alike
Each one a rare splendor
Each on of us beautiful

Vive Amor
"I love you." says a confident Romeo to an image of his Juliet.
"No! You mustn't say such words!
They only bring about despair!" says the Bleeding Heart of Romeo's last affair.
Despair?
What despair is there in pure joy?
When Romeo lay next to his Juliet the joy did not die.
It is the words of the unloving one,
The one who fears to die,
The one who is already dead,
That bring upon this terrible fate.
The fate that with this joy comes pain unimaginable.
Now the Wounded Heart of my sweet Romeo will be pierced again.
His Mind will take over, and it will be the end of him.
But ignore the warnings, dear one!
Your Juliet de
You're probably lounging
in the hall,
laughing with all your friends who joke
at your large hands,
your fluffy hair,
but you won't mind
as you take it into your long stride.
Your sea green eyes, that match
the ocean you adore, will never
return to our world.
You'll bore of their company
and start to wander
through the well-known maze.
There you'll find another,
laugh again,
and have them join
your wandering path
but little do they know
you are searching for me.
I am.
I am a voice, muted by doubt.
I am an awkward silence that still has something to say.
I am a friend, will to battle until the end.
I am that small child, wanting to sing for the world.
I am part of Louis Rose playing Let It Be as the room sings.
I am a girl who will always believe in happy endings.
I am builder of go-carts, master of the laundry mountain, singer of rhymes.
I am the second, his sister, his only younger annoyance and joy.
I am my mother's hug and my fathers grin.
I am the obeyer of One... Two... Three....
I am the daughter of a rebel who conformed and a rebel loving conformer.

Turned Around _Stood by You_
I am facing one direction
There is nothing else in view
Then
In the back light
Stood you
But
I feel I should stay facing
The same way I always have
Then
In the corner of my eye
Stood you
So
I take one last look
At an old familiar face
Then
With curiosity I
Move to you
And
I notice glimmering in the dark
A new hope
A new adventure
But
When I speak
It calls me back
And
It thinks my words are for It
The old direction
Then
It screams at me
While I stand by you
So
I must return
Or fear It's wrath
But
I look only
To be told to look away
And
I not knowing
Do as It says
Then
Step inside,
Press the button to start the ride,
Where is everyone?
First stop,
The elevator empties out,
You are alone.
But is it quiet?
Second stop,
It fills to the brim,
Everyone leaving on a different floor.
You're packed in.
Ever felt alone in a crowd?
Next stop,
After everyone is off,
The doors are about to shut again,
Someone calls out,
Runs, hand outstretched.
Do you hold the door and let them in?
This stop,
Your enthusiasm for the ride,
Changed,
Telltale romance,
Destructive malice,
Awkward silence,
Or were you taken hostage?
The doors open,
One last time,
Never to open for you again,
You must get off,

It's there,
I see it.
I turn,
It's gone.
It's here,
I feel it.
I reach,
It's empty.
It's near,
I smell it.
I breath,
It's faint.
It's close,
I hear it.
I listen,
It's weak.
It's coming,
I sense it.
I wait
I think I'm missing something,
Something every kid should have.
I've got a brother and a pet,
Parents, crazy relatives, and a TV set.
But there still is something missing,
Something I'm not quite sure.
I've got a bike and a kite,
A neighbor kid and a lucky penny,
I've got dolls or toy guns,
Dress up things, and I play in the mud.
Yet there is still something missing,
Something that is pure.
I've got puzzles and marbles,
Basketballs, trees to climb, and races.
But there still is something missing,
Something that was taken away.
I speak,
No one listens, but I'm used to that by now,
Right?
I listen,
No one says a word, but they never have,
Right?
I watch,
For a friendly face, but they're just busy,
Right?
I walk,
Alone, but I'm surrounded by those who care,
Right?
I hear,
So faintly, but it was for me,
Right?
I feel,
Something coming, but it's something good,

Raelyn Edwards: A Short Note
Raelyn Edwards prolog
This is a short note to all you english teachers and 'first liner freaks': This story is going to start with, 'once upon a time' whether you like it or not. I'll tell you why, because all fairytales start with 'once upon a time' and this is a fairy tale if there ever was one. There is magic and elves, true friendship and everything a fairy tale should have. I don't want anyone coming up to me in the street and saying, "You should never have started it with 'once upon a time." Don't you worry your little head off, I promise that it'll be good. No evil little elves will come out from under your bed and steal this book bec

Raelyn Edwards: Dracula-draft-
It was just after lunch when I left the dwarf home, by the time I got to Castle Dracula the sun was just starting to set. He must be fairly self-centered to name his castle after himself. Just as I was about to knock on the door, it begins to open. A smooth, haunting voice says, "Welcome to my house! Come freely. Go safely. And leave something of the happiness you bring!" He always gives me the chills. I walk inside, the door slamming behind me. The chandeliers that line the hall all light, one after the other. He really over does himself now-a-days. I start to walk in farther. I know my way around pretty well, it's not like this is the first
The Kindness of Calypso
I was sitting at my loom, passing my golden shuttle to and fro, and singing high and low in my sweet voice when Hermes came for Odysseus. I fed Hermes with ambrosia and the sweet nectar of the gods, and he addressed me so, "Hey Aunt! It's been a long time since I last came here; same ol' beautiful island."
"I'm glad that you still like it. I've been doing some work on it; you know, a new garden here a few statures there, and a little touch of 'stop and stare' I got from Circe. But come, tell me why you are here; just come to visit your aunt or has your father a message for me?" Just before Hermes answered, that nuisa

I am what I happen to be...
I, am what I am. He, she it, that fish over yonder, is not what I am. They (or the infamous "Thay" who are different from "They") couldn't ever possibly dream of being what I am. Why? Simple, I won't let them (or "Tham").
If you would also like to join the ranks of pathetic copy-cats, here is what you need to know: I am what I am - don't mess with that. I am a vocalist that wishes she could play an instrument half as well. So instead, I preform Jazz. I am a (wanna-be) writer, with so many ideas, yet no idea how to get them put on paper. I am a reader, finding emotions not given to me in the everyday world through literature. I am a
Dracula
The sun set right behind the walls of Castle Dracula. It was either a lack of creativity that compelled him to name it thus, or an over-sized ego, both of which were a possibility. I walked up to the door and right before my fist pounded wood, it began to open. A smooth, haunting voice drifted from above, Welcome to my home! Enter of your own free will. We have cake! I could never get used to his automatic greetings and everyone knows the cake is a lie. Stepping through the threshold, the room opened up into a warmly lit entry hall. A large staircase snaked its way up and bordered the hall. Torches lit themselves, one by
Square and white
At first,
Clean and bright,
Image of perfection in yourself.
You do not laugh at my mistakes,
You fix them,
And never too late.
Adored by all,
Asked for wherever I go,
Sometimes your clean glow is too much
For others to bare.
They come and take you,
Write notes upon you,
Notes only few understand.
Though you may no longer be clean,
You still clean,
Always there to fix my mistakes,
Always there with a smiley face.
Miles away from home
And yet you never roam
Constantly singing,
A praise of your own.
You watch over your crop
In your own caring way
No matter how hard
You never would quit.
The best fighter I know
Yet you kept the peace
Witty comments, but
No undercut blows.
The strongest man I know,
Though age steals it away,
You may leave me soon
I will sing your praise.

The Word Unspoken - Sandwich
Hey! I've got lunch here for ya! My mom called us to the kitchen half-heartedly. I was famished and bolted in the direction of food. I stopped. There it was, the last thing I wanted to see. A cold, slimy, meat sandwich. Everything about it was limp, the bread, the salami, even the cheese. Examining the loose wad, I held it between my hands. Hunger drove me to take a bite. Just try it, after all, it is food. After only the first bite, soft bread was lodged at the roof of my mouth.
Nnnaaahhh! Ith thunk ath the dop of my month! Reaching into my mouth, I began a sad attempt to remove the bread.

I am fading away,
Drifting farther than anyone can reach;
Someone please catch me.
A cloud moves slower than me;
It is my heart that is hard to breach.
I am fading away.
A hand clings to me,
A dream within the stars;
Someone please catch me.
There is no sun with its warm rays of light.
The dark is what consumes me.
I am fading away.
I do not mind the rain;
It hides my tears, fears.
Someone please catch me.
Waiting for something,
For what, who's to say.
I am fading away,
Someone please catch me.
See that man?
That man, a
Man standing alone.
Standing there,
There alone and unaware,
Alone without a care,
Without a dream
A friend that could be.
Friend, see that man?
I'll start with puddles...
It's started raining again. We had a weekend of really nice sunshine, but it was short lived, and I didn't get to go to the beach.
There are also puddles of salty tears. Broken hearts, friend's parents being diagnosed with cancer, destroyed dreams, lost hopes and the like.
Now for the puppies.
I got a puppy. His name is Coda, and I love him, even if I'm his personal chew toy. It keeps me from writing, a little bit, but, more so the amounts of homework piled upon me. And it's all just reading! Gah... oh well. I apologize for not posting more stuff. I have a really long poem that I need to fix up and post. And, I
I need a life.
Finals are still coming.
I'm still not ready for them.
I, need to get my head out of the clouds. I need to remember my dreams are dreams, and that they do not hold a grain of truth.
But, I'm free for someone to prove me wrong.
I also need to stop being so self-centered.
Like I said;
I need a life.
